It’s official, Seattle has the best FOOD!

SeattleSeattle is famously known for the amount of rain we receive each year, which is misleading. Seattle is not even in the top ten rainiest cities. This is my bid for Seattle to be famously known for its food. Most Seattle restaurants pride themselves on the fact that they use organic ingredients from local farms. You don’t need to be part of the Portlandia crew to understand that organic foods just taste better and are better for you. According to Urbanspoon Seattle has 58 restaurants that meet this criteria – although I’m sure there are even more.

Both Kate and I have done a lot of traveling and eating in our lives together – San Francisco, Napa, New York City, Portland, Italy, Spain, and many more — but always end up saying that this is really good food but ____ in Seattle is better. We have our usual go-to places that we remain loyal to. Below is a list we’ve started to compile of our favorites so far…and it’s a guarantee that this list will grow as new restaurants pop up and we continue to try more.

  1. Pizza
  2. Italian
  3. Mexican
  4. Thai
  5. New American
  6. Vegetarian/Vegan
  7. Sushi
  8. Seafood

  1. I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve never been there since I live in Ballard but everyone raves about La Carta De Oaxaca. Should that be on your Mexican list? If it’s not, maybe we should all try it soon!

Wild Ginger has always been one of my faves. The food there never disappoints! I’d also add Umi to my list of sushi faves. It is expensive, but it is really good! Lark in Cap Hill and El Gaucho are fantastic as well!
